Update: Starks was just announced with the 2020 class after spending the fall at prep school.
JAMEL STARKS - DEFENSIVE BACK
247 Composite: 3*/.8668
247: 3*/87
ESPN: 3*/78
Rivals: 3*/5.6
Other Offers: App State, WVU, NC State, Nebraska
Highlights:
Evaluation: Louisville is getting a really good athlete in Starks. He can play corner or safety and he was also a really good running back and return man in high school. My favorite part of his game is he desire to get up the field and deliver a blow to runners. He isn’t the biggest player but you wouldn’t know it by watching him bring down running backs. This staff wants guys who can run and know how to play fast and Starks is exactly that.
Summary: Louisville wanted to add depth in the defensive backfield and targeted a handful of prospects. Jamel Starks was one of the highest rated out of the targets and Bryan Brown’s relationship with him from his time at App State paid off in the end. Starks becomes another addition to the program that the App State staff went after but couldn’t get to Bonne, NC. The move the ACC was enough to sway another talent.
