JALEN MITCHELL - RUNNING BACK
247 Composite: 3*/.8526
247: 3*/84
ESPN: 3*/76
Rivals: 3*/5.6
Other Offers: App State, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Kentucky, Purdue
Highlights:
Evaluation: Louisville landed a very solid running back in Mitchell. He fits the new scheme well with his lateral quickness and good footwork. He also has the size to shed tacklers on interior runs. His long speed is a question but he has enough burst to do well in the zone running scheme that Dwayne Ledford and Scott Satterfield will use. Depending on how things shake out with the roster, Mitchell could be a contributor this fall.
Summary: Louisville targeted a few running backs in the second week of the late signing period and Mitchell was one of the two they got to campus for an official visit. The staff looked for guys that fit the new scheme and could come in and provide immediate depth. Stu Holt wanted Mitchell at App State and he was able to get him once the staff moved to the ACC.
“Very fired up about him joining our program. Very, very big kid, physical kid, who does a lot of great things with the ball in his hand.”
