ALLEN SMITH - LINEBACKER
247 Composite: 3*/.8527
247: 3*/85
ESPN: 3*/78
Rivals: 3*/5.5
Other Offers: UNC, Oregon, Nebraska
Highlights:
Evaluation: I’m sure people are tired of hearing the word “fit” when it comes to this recruiting class, but Smith is one of the best examples of it. App State’s defenses excelled over the last handful of years with linebackers who can run, cover, and close on the ball well. Smith fits all three of those criteria and he should develop into a well-rounded linebacker for Bryan Brown’s defense.
Summary: Allen Smith was the second commit for Louisville in the second signing period. Smith was an early target for Cort Dennison who recruited him at Oregon. Smith was one of the few outside linebackers the staff targeted and jumped on board early. After the coaching change at North Carolina, Smith was looking for a new school and the fit at Louisville worked out well.
