Grad Transfer Linebacker TJ Holl Signs With Louisville

Louisville gets some much needed depth at linebacker.

Louisville v South Florida

Louisville defensive coordinator Bryan Brown made it very clear when he was hired that he felt that some players were playing out of position last season. So, he has had some guys change positions which led to a need at the linebacker position. Brown was able to help fill that need today with the addition of graduate transfer linebacker TJ Holl. Holl comes to Louisville after a very good career at Colgate.

Holl finished the 2018 season with 121 tackles and 17 tackles for loss. He was also named the Patriot Leagues defensive player of the year. Holl is a very quick inside linebacker that plays sideline-to-sideline and uses his exceptional closing speed to get to shoot gaps in the line to get to running backs. If there’s one question about his game it will be his coverage ability. I haven’t seen that from him during his time at Colgate.

Brown has said that he has moved 10-12 guys this spring and some of those position changes have been linebackers moving to the defensive line. Holl will provide an immediate assist from an experience standpoint and he should be a quality depth addition for a defense that needs to replenish the second level.
