Evaluation:

We all saw how Marshon Ford excelled as a blocker as well as a guy who could take a short pass and turn it into a big play. Martin should have similar success as long as he can be a strong player in the passing game. Martin was a fullback in high school and he ran for plenty of tough yards while also showing good speed once he got into the open field. He runs tough so he should develop well as a blocker as blocking is mostly about effort. Louisville shouldn’t need him immediately so he will have time to develop the skills he hasn’t had to use yet.

Summary:

“Sleeper” gets used a lot in recruiting but you can’t ask for much more when it comes to the bottom of your class than a guy that was a finalist for Mr. Football. in South Carolina. Martin was the “A-back” in the option offense that his offense ran. He ran for a lot of yardage and it’s impressive that the staff saw his potential as an H-back. He should provide much needed depth behind Marshon Ford and Isaac Martin.
