Highlights:
Evaluation:
We all heard the previous staff talk about speed each recruiting class but Scott Satterfield is adding some verifiable speed to this class. Malito is a sub-4.4 guy who averaged nearly 25 yards per catch as a junior. That number dipped as a senior but over his four year career, he averaged 20 yards per catch and scored 27 touchdowns as a receiver. He also amassed 102 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and 5 interceptions. His closing speed on defense is where you can really see his speed. You can’t teach the speed an effort he plays with. It’s just an added bonus that he understands route running and how to make contested catches. He just needs to work on learning how to separate.
Summary:
Malito was a flip from Toledo after visiting for the Notre Dame game. He camped at UofL during the summer where he ran a 4.39 forty. The staff invited him back and there was a mutual interest which earned him an offer. This staff saw nearly every player in this class in person before they committed. Most were in a camp setting where they could evaluate them in drills and verify the measurables. It took Malito two visits to get his offer but it stands out that these coaches vet the players they want in the fold. It also doesn’t hurt that he can run like he does.
