Once again, the Louisville women’s basketball team will begin its season with a top ranking. The Cardinals are No. 9 in the Associated Press preseason top 25 poll, which was released Wednesday afternoon.
Oregon, which saw its season end in the national semifinals last season, is the preseason No. 1 team, garnering 25 of the 28 first-place votes. Reigning national champion Baylor, which defeated the Ducks, received the other three first-place votes and is No. 2. Stanford, Maryland and UConn round out the top five.
Louisville is the highest-ranked ACC team in the poll, which also includes Florida State (12), NC State (14), Notre Dame (16), Miami (18), and Syracuse (21).
