So far in his senior season, the speedy Watkins has caught 34 passes for 679 yards and seven touchdowns, and has rushed 24 times for 309 yards and three more scores. Rivals rates him as the No. 13 “athlete” in the class of 2020 and the No. 6 overall player in the state of Kentucky.
Speaking of that, let us not forget the comments of Kentucky recruiting “big dog” Vince Marrow last December after the Wildcats were able to sign four recruits from the Derby City.
“I just think our perception. I think we were pretty good in most of the state. Pretty much 85 percent of the state. Louisville was a different monster,” Kentucky recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow said. “It was just a thing where I think Louisville just had a strong hold on a lot of the kids there, a lot of the inner-city kids.”
...
“A lot of people don’t know that we’ve been pretty good in the NFL for the last couple of years with linebacker play. It was just getting these guys here to come play in the best conference in the country and come play with the best school in the state. It wasn’t a hard sell.”
I’d say it’s getting harder.
Watkins is the 24th player from the class of 2020 to commit to Louisville.
