Louisville signee Samuell Williamson named McDonald’s All-American

Williamson is the first Burger Boy ever inked by Chris Mack.

The rosters for the 2019 McDonald’s All-American Game have been released, and Louisville signee Samuell Williamson has made the cut. Williamson becomes the first Burger Boy that Cardinal head coach Chris Mack has ever signed.

Williamson, who recently rose to No. 33 in ESPN’s updated rankings for the 2019 class, is currently averaging 25.6 points per game in his senior season for Rockwall High School.

Here are the full rosters for this year’s game:

Williamson is the 28th McDonald’s All-American to sign with Louisville. Three of those players — Sebastian Telfair, Amir Johnson and Brian Bowen — didn’t wind up playing for the Cards. Assuming Williamson does, he will be the first Burger Boy since V.J. King to log minutes for the Cards.

I’ll be perfectly honest, I thought it would take two years at the earliest before Mack and Louisville were even in the conversation for landing a McDonald’s All-American. The fact that he was able to get this done less than a year into the job and with all the noise still swirling around the program is nothing short ofamazing.
