Scott Satterfield and his staff picked up their first commitment of the second signing period by landing Renato Brown. Brown can play either offensive or defensive line but it appears that he will be playing on the offensive side of the ball when he arrives. Brown was once committed to Miami and holds offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida, Penn State, and Georgia.
His offer list reminds me of Colin Wilson as he picked up most of them before his senior year and he didn’t seem to be as big of a recruit down the stretch. We’ve all seen the talent of Wilson, so my hope is that this will be a similar situation. Simply put, all of those coaches at those schools saw something and I doubt they’re all wrong.
Brown was the first recruit to decide to take an official visit to Louisville after the early signing period and he committed on the same day he left after he went back home from that visit. I’m not sure there could be a better sign for the new staff.
It should also be pointed out that Scott Satterfield has mentioned “relationships” multiple times when it comes to recruiting. Brown was offered by Louisville back in 2017 when Cort Dennison was here his first time around. Dennison was able to get a commitment when he got back even though he has only been back for a short time. I think Satterfield had a point.
