Before college football season begins, we have to have the “Herbies” on ESPN, which are Kirk Herbstreit’s preseason awards and predictions. This year will feature a few notes of interest for Louisville fans, with the biggest being wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick named as one of Herbstreit’s breakout stars.

The redshirt sophomore from Farmington Hills, Michigan had a fantastic freshman season, bringing in 45 receptions for 699 yards, both second on the team to only Jaylen Smith. He had a team-leading nine touchdowns. His best game came in a road loss to N.C. State when he had 10 catches for 134 yards.

The wide receiver stable of Fitzpatrick, Smith, and Seth Dawkins could end up being one of the best in the ACC in 2018.
