#32 Jacob Ables

Class: Freshman

Ht/Wt: 5-11/182

Position: Wide Receiver

Hometown: Louisville, KY (Product of Holy Cross)

Twitter: N/A

Thoughts: Jacob is a walk-on for the Cards out of Holy Cross High School. Playing both sides of the ball (WR/FS) Ables flashed his speed and his awareness for the Cougars for a few seasons on the football field and out on the track running the short distance relays and the 110m and 300m hurdles. Just like this good boy...

When he wasn’t busy picking off passes, catching balls, or jumping over horizontal sticks out on the track, he and Hunter Crowe were out driving around the southend helping save babies.

I suspect Jacob will be a practice squad player this season with an opportunity to move into an expanded role as his Louisville career progresses. As a smaller wideout I’d envision Ables getting most of his reps as a slot receiver or helping out on special teams. Maybe a spot as a return man? Flash his own version of the ‘Lamar Leap’ on someone. Cut left, find a hole, and ....jump!

Sweet Tweet: No twitter for Jacob that I could find so why not take a moment and read up on some of the ins and outs of the wide receiver position. Some of it is basic, some of it is more advanced, but all of it is better than reading that dumb work memo about filling out your expense reports since it’s the last day of the month.
