The Cardinal Countdown: 38 Days Until Kickoff

NCAA Football: Virginia at Louisville Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

#38 Vince Lococo

Class: RS Sophomore

Ht/Wt: 6-0/219

Position: Fullback

Hometown: Louisville, KY (Product of Trinity High School)

Thoughts: Vince is now in his third season with the Cards coming out of Trinity High School here locally. Vince was a prominent linebacker for the Rocks but has made the transition to fullback since arriving on campus. If you read my post back on Day 44 you know my affinity for the fullback position and how much I’d love to see that spot get more involved in the Cards offense this season.

For those youngin’s who may not know the history of the position, or for those who are just looking for some current information about a spot that is slowing coming back to college football, there are few better resources than the ‘Return Of The Fullback’ series over at the Football Study Hall page. It’s up to five parts now I believe and they’re all solid reads.

Lived in Louisville since birth and had Lonnie’s for the first time maybe four years ago. I’m sure it’s proximity to Trinity plays a role in Vince’s opinion but I agree that they are cranking out some fantastic wieners over there. Does anyone else in Louisville do “gourmet hotdogs”? The 3 year old kids in the city, and myself, are all dying to know.

#38 Jack Fagot

Class: RS Freshman

Ht/Wt: 6-0/192

Position: Safety

Hometown: Lexington, KY

Thoughts: All you Jason Sehorn fans, awake from your slumber my friends. We have a new Caucasian roaming the secondary, and he’s pretty dang good.

I highlighted some of Jacks accolades coming out of Lexington Catholic last year in his countdown post so feel to refresh your memory on those if you have the time. Jack is no slouch and even though he’s a walk-on the staff spoke about him this Spring as being knee deep in the competition for playing time in the Secondary. Taking a redshirt last season Jack still has four years of eligibility remaining and if I had to guess, I think he may get some reps THIS season. Maybe its late game situations or maybe he cuts teeth on special teams but from what I’ve read and watched he looks like the real deal.

Being from Lexington I’m sure Jack was glad he got the opportunity to use his redshirt so he can always claim FIVE wins over the Cats during his college career. Am I saying we’ll win the next four? That’s exactly what I’m saying.

I hear they have a wine mixer there…kind of a big deal.
