Class: RS Freshman
Hometown: Union, KY
Thoughts: The story on Colin is not an atypical one for numerous high school athletes across the country. Colin was a solid piece of the Ryle Football program for a few seasons performing well at inside linebacker his senior year with a team high 117 tackles while helping lead them to a 12-1 season. Considered a Top 10 program in the state of Kentucky the Raiders got knocked out in the semifinals of the state playoffs. Colin, being an astute young man, had already earned a full ride to UofL for his academic prowess and was moving on to a life that no longer included football….then the staff called him up, said they liked his tape, and asked if he had any interest walking-on to the program. Colin accepted their offer and officially became a Card last season.
The story on Colin, according to a ‘Northern Kentucky Tribune’ article, is that Colin had injured his right leg prior to his senior year of high school forcing him to miss numerous summer camps both locally and nationally. The timing of the injury could not have been worse as most kids like Colin only have a few opportunities to showcase their skills to coaches at the D-I level and if they miss those chances the probability of getting an offer is slim. Colin was fortunate to get this opportunity, but he also earned it with his play over the last couple years. Hopefully Colin gets the chance to show what he can do when healthy and the Cards pick up a steal at walk-on. Earning playing time will be an uphill battle for sure but I wish him luck in his career as a Cardinal.
