Texas Tech dealt Louisville a 10-4 loss Saturday night in Lubbock, snapping the Cardinals 16-game winning streak during the regional round of the NCAA tournament.

Sophomore lefty Nick Bennett fell to 8-2 on the season thanks in large part to an inability to find the strikezone in the game’s early moments. He wound up walking five, allowing five hits and six runs before being lifted in the middle of the fourth inning with his team behind 6-2.

A pair of U of L runs in the top of the ninth only made the final score look prettier than it was.

Next up for Louisville is an elimination game against Kent State Sunday at 3 p.m. The Cardinals defeated the Golden Flashes 13-6 on Friday. The winner of Sunday’s rematch will then face Texas Tech at 8 p.m.

If U of L is able to win two games on Sunday, it will face Texas Tech on Monday for the regional title.
