Pikeville High standout Wyatt Battaile announced late Monday evening that he is de-committing from Morehead State, and instead accepting a preferred walk-on offer from Louisville.
“After talking with my family, I have decided to de-commit from Morehead State,” Battaile said on Twitter. “I would like to thank Coach Spradlin and their staff for the opportunity. With that being said, I am happy to announce that I will be furthering my academic and athletic career at the University of Louisville. #GoCards.”

Battaile averaged 24.1 points and 8.6 rebounds per game as a senior last season for Pikeville, helping the Panthers advance all the way to the quarterfinals of the state tournament. He also played for a head coach, Elisha Justice, who is a former Cardinal walk-on himself.
Here’s Battaile in action at the state tournament last March:
Battaile becomes the third walk-on on Louisville’s current roster, joining sophomores Jacob Redding and Jo Griffin. He’s also the fourth member of the team from the state of Kentucky, joining Griffin, Dwayne Sutton and Christen Cunningham.
Welcome aboard, Wyatt.
