Louisville Crushes Tennessee State 107-52

NCAA Womens Basketball: NCAA Tournament-Lexington Regional-Oregon State vs Louisville Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

Tennessee State came into this game 0-8 on the season so it’s not that surprising that Louisville started the game without the appropriate amount of intensity. At the end of the first quarter the Cardinals had slowly crawled to a 9 point lead and then in the second quarter the Lady Tigers threw everything they had at them to cut the lead to 4 points. A Sam Fuehring steal and fast break layup seemed to snap the Cards out of their doldrums. They turned up the defensive pressure, and by halftime Tennessee State might as well have loaded up the bus and headed back home.

Eleven Cardinals finished the game in the scoring column. Asia Durr had 19 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Dana Evans added 17 points. Kylee Shook used her height advantage to come away with 14 rebounds and a program-record 8 blocked shots.

After the game Coach Walz praised some of the underclassmen. “I thought Seygen [Robins] did a nice job being out there with some of the returners. She looked even more comfortable with the basketball. Mykasa [Robinson]...she goes 7-8 from the free throw line. She’d been struggling a little bit but really put the time in. Seven rebounds—4 offensive—2 assists, no turnovers...I thought her play was really, really good.”

UT-Martin comes to the Yum Center on December 4th. Coach Walz said, “We give them one day of prep for tomorrow and then we’ll be back out here on Tuesday....This is a team that’s going to want to get up and down the floor as fast as they can. They’re going to trap.... All of their scores have up in the high 80s, close to the 90s so I’m expecting to see a track meet.” It is also Ugly Christmas Sweater night so come draped in tinsel and lights. The game is at 7PM.
