Louisville scored the most significant victory of the Chris Mack era to date with a home win over No. 9 Michigan State Tuesday night. Afterward, future Cardinals Aidan Igiehon, Josh Nickelberry, Quinn Slazinski and David Johnson all shared their reactions with me.
David Johnson recorded 21pts-8asts-5rebs all in the first half in a blowout win for Trinity High School last night. This was Johnson’s first game of his senior season. After the win I spoke with him on his future squad’s win.
“This win shows the black cloud over the city is going away”
Quinn Slazinski, who’s been off too a great start to begin his senior season including a 37-point explosion, was also very excited after the win.
“Amazing feeling, it was a big time win. Coach Mack is building something special”
Aidan Igiehon joined in the celebration as well.
“It’s a big win for us as a Cards family. It’s the first big signature win in the coach Mack era, an era in which me and my future teammates will all live in. I think today will start a domino effect. I feel a lot of great things are coming right to the Cardinals door step. I’m blessed to be a part of all this.”
Finally, Josh Nickelberry and I spoke from his team bus. Yes, we spoke after he dropped 32 points and added 12 boards in his school’s win. Another 30-point game, he’s got multiple to begin his senior year.
As for the MSU game, Chris Mack’s first Card commit had this to say:
“Great win for the team and the program”
Also, I asked “is Louisville back? as in completly back, without any hesitation he says “no doubt.”
