The first half of this game was as ugly as the Boise State football field. Louisville couldn’t get into a rhythm on either end of the floor and never had a lead until the second quarter. Both teams went into halftime with 12 turnovers. It was sloppy. Actually according to Coach Walz after the game, “Sloppy was an understatement.”
However, Louisville had it’s trademark 3rd quarter run. It stretched a 31-28 halftime lead to 50-33 with a few minutes to go. Still the Broncos still fought and closed the gap to 53-41 going into the 4th. Eventually the Cards were too much for them and pulled away.

Coach Walz said, “Defensively we actually did some really good things. We held them to 55 points. And then in the 3rd quarter we outscored them 22-13 but....we let them get some rhythm going and it just killed us. Offensively we stand. We work every day in practice on passing and cutting and not watching the ball....We have to figure out you have to play hard without the ball and get yourself in position to score without the basketball.”
After going scoreless in the first quarter Asia Durr led all scorers with 20 points and added 7 rebounds. Arica Carter contributed 16 points. Jazmine Jones was having a nice game until she left the game after falling and hurting her hip in the second quarter. In fact she looked so good that for the first quarter the TV commentator called her Asia Durr.

Next the Cards travel to Las Vegas for the Southpoint Shootout. They play Arizona State at 5:30 on Friday. According to Coach Walz, “Arizona State is going to be a Sweet 16/Elite 8 type of basketball game....It’s gonna be a ball game no question about it.”
That moment when you’re on Boise State football field and try and take your Head Coach down. Didn’t quite go as planned. @aricuuuh ♀️ pic.twitter.com/h08vXbZ5Ox
