Following its ACC tournament championship victory over North Carolina on Sunday, the Louisville men’s soccer team has earned the No. 4 overall seed for the NCAA tournament. This means that the Cards will have home field advantage through the tournament up until the College Cup (soccer’s version of the Final Four).
U of L earned a first round bye for the tournament and will host the winner of Thursday’s Michigan State-UIC contest (played in East Lansing) in the second round on Sunday at 5 p.m. at Lynn Stadium.
This is the third straight year that the Cardinals have entered the NCAA tournament as the No. 4 overall seed. Wake Forest — the No. 1 overall seed in this year’s tournament — is the only other program in the country to achieve that feat. In each of the past two seasons, U of L has been knocked out in the Elite Eight round. If seeding were to hold this year, the Cards would face a rematch with North Carolina in the Elite Eight round.
Here’s to getting over the hump in 2018.
Tickets Sunday’s match, priced at $10 for reserved chairback seats and $5 for general admission/berm seating, will go on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m., ET and can be purchased online here, by phone at 502-GO-CARDS or in person through the Louisville Cardinals Ticket Office at Cardinal Stadium. Additionally, groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $3 each, while the first 300 students will receive complimentary tickets courtesy of U of L Athletics.
