Arguably the most decorated college baseball player in the history of the sport needs to make some figurative room in his (probably) real trophy case. Brendan McKay is the Card Chronicle Person of the Year for 2017.
McKay pulled in 46 percent of the vote to edge out Lamar Jackson, Touchdown Squirrel and Jeff Walz for the most storied honor in the Derby City.
Here’s our updated list of winners, which further reinforces that this website is a billion years old in internet years:
2007 - Tom Jurich
2008 - David Padgett
2009 - Vacant (we forgot to do it)
2010 - Charlie Strong
2011 - Charlie Strong and Preston Knowles (tie)
2012 - Tom Jurich
2013 - Teddy Bridgewater
2014 - Russ Smith
2015 - Kelsi Worrell
2016 - Lamar Jackson
2017 - Brendan McKay
It’s nice to see a representative of the baseball program join the ranks of the honored. Congrats to Brendan.
