Friday morning Cardinal news and notes

Major shoutout to my guy Doug (and his dog Macie) who has been beating down cancer and enjoying Cardinal victories for a while now. He enjoys the “Choo Choo MF’er” train and watching Lamar Jackson do inhuman things every Saturday. Keep fighting, Doug.

—Spread check: Louisville by 10.

—Michael Jordan will still be on North Carolina’s uniforms on Saturday, but he will no longer be making the trip to Chapel Hill to serve as the team’s honorary captain. Jordan is blaming it on Hurricane Irma, but I’m like 95 percent sure it was the LA Smith highlights posted here yesterday.

—The internet acted quickly and as you might expect.

—College hoops coaches HATE the potential change to the transfer rule, which is why it’s never going to happen.

—U of L baseball will host open scrimmages today and Saturday at Jim Patterson Stadium.

—Asia Durr is one of five college players attending training camp for the USA women's national team.

—The Cards head to Chapel Hill Thursday night.

—The U of L women’s soccer team will look to continue its hot start Friday night against a Purdue squad that has also been defeated only once. Here’s your match preview.

—Even though Louisville and Clemson both have mighty important games to play on Saturday, there’s already an early line out on their Sept. 16 showdown at PJCS.

BetDSI.eu has opened look-ahead lines for three marquee matchups in Week 3 of the college football season. This week’s early odds include Texas at USC, Clemson at Louisville and Miami at Florida State.

You can find current odds here (bottom of page).

Clemson at Louisville (PK)

Miami at Florida State (-6)

Texas at USC (-14)

—Just three months after they traded for him, the Cleveland Browns released Calvin Pryor on Thursday after Pryor got into a pre-practice fight with teammate Ricardo Louis.

—Pryor took to Facebook later in the day to post an apology.

Best of luck to Calvin with whatever his next step winds up being. Here’s hoping he can get it figured out.

—The ACC Digital Network breaks down the key dates on the league’s basketball schedule in video form.

—The 8th-ranked U of L men’s soccer team has a big one tomorrow at Lynn against No. 2 Wake Forest.

—It would appear as though Miami, Florida, Florida State and South Florida have all called off their scheduled games for this weekend.

—I’m going to go ahead and guess that College GameDay picks Miami-Florida State next weekend after what looks like it’s going to be a very rough stretch of time for the Sunshine State. If that winds up being the case, I’m more than ok with it.

—This is disgusting, and I hope the A&M fan who sent it gets outed.

—Bud Elliott gives us his best bets for week two of the college football season, and he likes Louisville over UNC.

—Highlights of Louisville’s 1970 Pasadena Bowl appearance actually exist.

—We knew that some Kentucky players got into it with Southern Miss fans after their game last Saturday. We didn’t know that Jordan Jones was spitting on them during the game.

Gross.

—The Cardinal Connect looks at Louisville’s history in “the game before the game.”

—The tip times and the network assignments for the PK80 (which should be pretty awesome) have been revealed.

I look forward to spending my Thanksgiving evening stuffed and watching DePaul stun Michigan State.

—David Hale of ESPN writes about his experience at Clemson’s “iconic” Esso Club.

—You were born at a great Cardinal time, Waylon. You missed some crappy stuff that you’re not gonna have to deal with.

—Tar Heel Blog gives us three things to look for on Saturday.

—Despite Irma’s efforts, the U of L game watch in South Florida is still going down as planned.

Guy says the pub stays open until they make him close, so get your preparations done and plan to watch the Cards with us on Saturday! #hurricaneirmacantstopcardnation

—Here’s what the Heels will be wearing on Saturday:

—Even without James Quick and Jamari Staples, Louisville is loaded at wide receiver.

—Here’s your standard game preview.

—And finally, beat North Carolina.
