Junior Deng Adel and seniors Anas Mahmoud and Quentin Snider have been named the Louisville men’s basketball team’s captains for the 2017-18 season.

Rick Pitino said during a Thursday press conference that the tri-captains were selected by a voted of the team’s players and coaches. He added that Mahmoud received the most votes of any player on the team for the honor.

A season ago, Snider and senior big man Mangok Mathiang were announced as the team captains before the start of the season. Sophomore guard Donovan Mitchell was added as a third captain in the middle of the season.

None of this really means a great deal (or anything), but it’s nice to hear that Anas is embracing his role as a senior leader. U of L desperately needs at least one big to step up this year, and the most experienced center on the roster would be a nice place to start.
