ESPN’s “College GameDay” coming back to Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium for Louisville-Clemson

Here we go again.

For the second time in as many years, ESPN will be bringing its weekly "College GameDay" show to Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. The network made the announcement Sunday afternoon.

“GameDay” also came to PJCS in week three a year ago. On that day, Louisville erupted for 63 points in a 63-20 thrashing of visiting second-ranked Florida State.

“To have ESPN College GameDay come to the University of Louisville for the second-straight season is a tribute to head coach Bobby Petrino, all of our players and where this football program has come through the years,” U of L athletic director Tom Jurich said in a release. “The excitement the fans generated last year in that historic appearance is a tribute to their passion and loyalty to our football program. We are thrilled to have GameDay back on our campus to showcase our great university.”

Clemson will enter Saturday’s game coming off a 14-6 win over No. 13 Auburn that moved the Tigers to 2-0 on the season. The reigning national champions could very well come to Louisville as the nation’s No. 2 team. That’s the same ranking FSU walked into PJCS with last season.

“GameDay” was in the house for last year’s classic between the Tigers and Cardinals, a 42-36 thriller in Death Valley that both aided in Clemson’s pursuit of the national championship and Lamar Jackson’s ultimate capturing of the Heisman Trophy.

Just like last year, this week is about to be so damn fun. Hydrate accordingly.
