Jaire Alexander named first team preseason AP All-American, Lamar Jackson second team

More fuel for Lamar.

The summer of disrespect has continued for Lamar Jackson, who despite being the most recent recipient of the Heisman Trophy, isn’t even the Associated Press’ First Team All-American quarterback heading into his junior season. That honor belongs to USC sophomore Sam Darnold, who continues to receive a significant amount of love from the college football media on the heels of his monster performance in the 2017 Rose Bowl.

U of L does have a First Team preseason All-American for the first time in program history, though. Jaire Alexander, the junior cornerback who had a breakout 2016 season, received the honor from the Associated Press, joining Florida State junior Tavarus McFadden to make up the First Team cornerbacks.

Here’s the AP’s complete First and Second Team preseason All-Americans:
