The Cardinal Countdown: 22 Days Until Kickoff

#22 Harry Trotter

Class: Sophomore

Ht/Wt: 5-11/190

Position: Running back

Hometown: Atchison, KS

Twitter: @HTrotter_2

Thoughts: Harry comes to the Cards from Fort Scott Community College where he rushed for over 500 yards and 8 touchdowns as a true freshman last season. Petrino and staff went and grabbed Trotter back in May as things were looking mighty slim at the running back spot at that time, having already lost Dae Williams to injury and then seeing Jeremy Smith get dinged. Trotter should be a decent addition to the group this year, and although I doubt he’ll crack the rotation in 2017 he does have three years of eligibility left to make a mark.

I’m no expert but I’d assume a few trips to see Joe Miday and about 30 of those Anas Mahmoud milkshakes are in Trotter’s future. Being confused from the back with the starting kicker isn’t usually a great sign for a running back but I wish him well as he helps the team try and reach their ultimate goal of a championship….and to assist them all with his ‘manscaping’ tips. Nobody like a harry trotter.

Soooo…you know I was just joking earlier, right Trotter? That’s kinda my thing, I make stupid jokes, just trying to have some fun, nothing personal…please don’t hurt me.

#22 Chucky Williams

Class: RS Senior

Ht/Wt: 6-2/216

Position: Safety

Hometown: Hialeah, FL

Twitter: @_YoungCardinal

Thoughts: I’ve made a similar joke every single year so in order not to break tradition…Chucky look so old (how old is he), Chucky look so old he had a pick six in the Fiesta Bowl against Bama. Schnelly was hyped.

Chucky has been a starter in the secondary for what seems like 13 or 14 seasons, and that’s because he’s a damn good safety. After taking a redshirt Chucky got some decent run as a 2nd year freshman and then slid into the starter spot as a Sophomore and has remained their ever since. Williams finished third on the team last year in tackles (74) and threw in three interceptions for good measure. Petrino called him the quarterback of the defense BEFORE last season even began, meaning he’s been running the show back there for almost three full years. Cards fans fell in love with Calvin “histstick” Pryor and then Holliman messed around and broke records with his ballhawk skills (and took home an award or two) so following those two was no easy task, but Williams has filled the void splendidly and I look for him to have another big year as a leader in the secondary with Jaire.

Players like Chucky have helped keep the program on an upward trajectory the last few years. Would love to see him wrap up his 27th season as a Cardinal with a couple trophies.

Sweet Tweet:

In a time so close to kickoff we should all be uniting together as a fanbase, but this one could end a few friendships and split up a couple relationships. A risk I’m willing to take.

Best wings in the city of Louisville…?

Go.
