The University of Louisville placed 351 student-athletes on the 61st annual Atlantic Coast Conference Honor Roll for the 2016-17 academic year, the league announced on Thursday.
The honor roll is comprised of student-athletes who participated in a varsity level sport and recorded a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the full academic year. The conference recognized a record 4,472 student-athletes for their excellent work in the classroom.
The Cardinals' 351 honorees ranked as the fifth-highest total among any school in the league. Louisville had 346 student-athletes recognized a year ago.
Louisville's academic success also was noted nationally, as six teams – men's and women's basketball, football, men's and women's golf, and men's tennis teams – were among the top 10 percent in their respective sports in the multiyear APR, which measures academic eligibility, retention and graduation for student-athletes. Five of the sports programs have a perfect 1000 score for the most recent four-year period from 2012-16, with the football team falling short of that mark with a program-best score of 988.
