Thoughts: We’ve covered four long snappers on the countdown already this year, and Mr. Goss will finish us off here on Day 37. Not difficult to see that the coaching staff the last couple years knew they needed a solid player in that role and went out of their way to get a few extra walk-ons to come out and try and fill the void that Grant Donovan was leaving two years ago, and now Colin Holba will leave in 2017. If you’re a daily countdown reader (you all should be) you know that I thought Lowery and Betlach would be the two guys fighting for the spot, but offering a scholarship to Mitch Hall last season has put the target on his back as the man to beat for the two I just mentioned and Sophomore Kyle Goss.
Goss, the son of two Cardinals, is a lifelong Cardinal fan himself and said wearing the red and black “was a dream come true” as he walked on to the squad last year. After playing a little guard and defensive end in high school Goss knew he might have a shot to earn a roster spot as a long snapper and put in the time and energy to get that shot. Good luck to Goss as he battles the other guys for that coveted spot…that has just so happened to crank out a couple NFL players the last few years.

We all deserve an occasional reminder that the reigning Heisman trophy winner is a student at the University of Louisville.
Pretty sweet.
