Louisville will play at Purdue in 2017 ACC-Big 10 Challenge

Take two in West Lafayette.

NCAA Basketball: Purdue at Louisville Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

For the second straight year, Louisville will square off against Purdue in the annual ACC-Big 10 Challenge.

The Cardinals defeated the Boilermakers 71-64 at the KFC Yum Center in last season’s event. This year, the two teams will square off inside Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Ind. on a date to be announced later.

Even without double-double machine Caleb Swanigan, Purdue figures to be a formidable foe this season. Matt Painter returns the other four starters from a team that made the Sweet 16 and finished No. 15 in the final AP and USA Today polls for 2016-17.

Even with that being the case, it’s a little disappointing to see this as Louisville’s matchup. The feeling is sort of the same as it was last year when initial reports had the Cards playing Ohio State in the event again. No disrespect to Purdue, but unless the opponent is Michigan State, variety is preferred here. I would have enjoyed seeing the Cardinals get a rematch with Michigan, or a trip to face Wisconsin, Maryland or even Northwestern over Louisville-Purdue Part II.

Regardless, here we are.

With the Purdue game set, here’s what we know about Louisville’s non-conference schedule for the upcoming season:

Nov. 17 -- vs. St. Francis (Pa.)

Nov. 21 — vs. Southern Illinois

Dec. 16 -- vs. Memphis (Madison Square Garden, NY)

Dec. 20 — vs. Albany
