Dan McDonnell announced that right-handed junior Kade McClure will start for the Cardinals in their NCAA tournament opener against Radford on Friday night.
"We'll start with McClure and take it one game at a time," U of L coach Dan McDonnell said. "There's really no need to announce more than that. There's no secret that (Brendan McKay and Nick Bennett) have been the other two weekend starters all year, and we'll just kind of get through that first game."
McClure, who was an All-American last year after going 12-0, is generally the No. 2 starter for Louisville, but Dan McDonnell has decided to shake things up a little bit.
The Radford Highlanders, who are coming off of four straight wins in the Big South conference tournament to reclaim the title for the second time in three years, are facing the Cardinals as the four-seed.
The game between the Highlanders and Cardinals will be the second game on Friday, after the Oklahoma Sooners play the Xavier Musketeers. Louisville’s game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and you can watch it on ESPN 3.
