On Sunday afternoon the Louisville Cardinals received their 6th commitment for the class of 2018 as Yasir Abdullah announced he will continue his football career for the Cardinals.

Yasir is a composite 3-star prospect, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Despite being a 3-star, the Louisville coaching staff still had to fight off the LSU Tigers to secure the commitment from Yasir. Other schools that he holds offers from other than Louisville and LSU are South Florida, FIU, Syracuse, Northern Illinois, Purdue, and Wake Forest.

Yasir will head to Louisville from the Miami area, and as it stands, Louisville has six commitments for the class of 2018. What’s most impressive is that all six of those recruits are from the state of Florida. So far it is a very defensive-heavy class with other verbal commitments from Trenell Troutman (cornerback), Jamal Anderson (safety), and Michael Boykin (defensive end) to go along with Yasir. There is still quite a ways to go until signing day and everything becomes official, so let’s hope that the staff can hang on to these young and talented prospects.

Welcome to the Cards, Yasir!
