Former Trinity star Rodjay Burns transferring from Ohio State to Louisville

Big news for U of L football.

NCAA Football: Citrus Bowl-Louisiana State vs Louisville Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Huge news for Louisville football, as former Trinity High School star Rodjay Burns has announced that he is coming back home to play for the Cardinals after one year at Ohio State.

Burns announced his decision on Instagram, where he explained that the move was based on the health of his father.

A three-star recruit out of high school, Burns had been a longtime Louisville commitment before flipping to Ohio State 10 days before National Signing Day in 2016. He appeared in six games as a true freshman for the Buckeyes last season, recording a pick six in the team’s season-opening rout of Bowling Green.

Anybody who sees the field immediately at Ohio State is a player, and Burns certainyl fits that description. After sitting out the 2017 season per NCAA transfer rules, Burns would seem a likely candidate to step into a starting role in Louisville’s defensive backfield in 2018.
