Former Louisville Cardinal Keith Kelsey has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and it seems he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder.

Kelsey made his way to Louisville as a mostly under-the-radar recruit from Gainesville, where his dad played for the Gators. He proved to just about everyone that he was not evaluated very well as he would lead the Cardinals in tackles in 2015 and 2016, while being second on the team in total tackles in 2014 behind James Sample. To finish out his Cardinal career, Kelsey notched 92 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss, one sack, broke up two passes and forced three fumbles as a senior leader on the defense in 2016.
Scouts like Kelsey’s physical style of play. He’s a downfield tackler and he will not stop on the play until he hears the whistle blow. Kelsey has tremendous hustle and a high level of aggressiveness.
At the next level, Keith will need to work on his speed for him to effectively chase runners to the sidelines. Scouts are a bit concerned that he’s slow in transitioning his change of direction and believe that he will have issues making open field tackles at the NFL level.
Best of luck to Keith with the Steelers!
