Wednesday morning Cardinal news and notes

New, 47 comments

When in New Orleans, this is how you act.

I_medium The U of L baseball team saw its six-game winning streak over Kentucky end with an 11-7 loss Tuesday night in Lexington. A hoard of uncharacteristic mistakes led to the Cards falling into an 11-0 deficit before putting together a couple of nice middle innings at the plate to make the final score respectable.

The second-ranked Cardinals return to action this weekend with a three-game home set against Duke.

I_medium Louisville is No. 5 in the updated top 25 and one from CBS Sports.

I_medium Major news out of Duke, where Grayson Allen has announced that he will be returning to Durham for his senior season. Great for college hoops, not so great for fresh jokes.

I_medium Mark Stoops gave his players rings commemorating a regular season win over Louisville and a 15-point bowl loss to Georgia Tech.
It just means more.

I_medium Here's one idea to fix the scheduling imbalances that exist in major conference football.

I_medium I thoroughly enjoyed this.

I_medium It appears that Alphonso Carter, who has been suspended since a December arrest for carrying a concealed deadly weapon, will be transferring from Louisville.
Carter, who was known formerly as Paul Harris, transferred to Louisville from Tennessee in 2014. He originally played wide receiver.

I_medium Wichita State has struck a deal with Under Armour.

I_medium Brendan McKay is the reigning ACC Pitcher of the Week for the third time this year.

I_medium The new Rivals Hot 150 for the class of 2018 has New Albany superstar Romeo Langford at No. 3, and Louisville commits Courtney Ramey and Anfernee Simons at No. 29 and No. 51, respectively.

I_medium Cool tradition that the Louisville baseball team has for road games on days where they're able to travel by bus.
I_medium U of L men's tennis is on a road to redemption this season.

I_medium Texas is the latest team to express interest in Kyle Bolin.

I_medium Louisville's streak of having at least one player selected in the first round of the NFL Draft would appear to be on the verge of coming to an end.

I_medium Sights and sounds from the Louie Awards.

I_medium Emmonnie Henderson is the ACC Track and Field Performer of the Week for a second consecutive week.

I_medium The latest NBA mock draft from CBS has Donovan Mitchell going to the Bucks with pick 17.

I_medium Former Kentucky/Boston College quarterback Patrick Towles gave tight end a try at a recent workout with the Cincinnati Bengals. If he ends up flourishing there, I'm sure he'll still find a way to throw an interception against Louisville.

I_medium A little piano playing/singing rescue beagle for your Wednesday morning:

I_medium Gonzaga's Nigel Williams-Goss will not be returning to school to use his final year of eligibility.

I_medium U of L women's tennis is on the road to close out its ACC regular season.

I_medium And finally, ESPN profiles U of L swimmer Mallory Comerford, who has experienced an entirely new life since tying Katie Ledecky for a national title.
