In a very unsurprising announcement, Donovan Mitchell has decided that he will enter his name in this year’s NBA draft and go through the pre-draft process in order to see where he might land.
The sophomore star revealed his decision via his Instagram account:
It was almost a foregone conclusion that Donovan would make this decision. The Louisville guard averaged 15.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.1 steals over the course of the past 2016-2017 season, one that ended a tad bit too early than some expected after the Cards ran in to a red hot Michigan team.
Despite announcing this decision, Mitchell still will be eligible to come back if he decides since he has not hired an agent. It is the same process that Onuaku went through last year, waiting until the very last second to make his decision. The final deadline for Don to decide to stay or go will be May 24th. Most project Mitchell to return, especially after his comments after Louisville’s Sunday afternoon loss.
Tear ‘em up, Don. May the decision you make be the best one for you.
