Rick Pitino announced during his Friday press conference that freshman forward V.J. King will miss Saturday's game against Virginia Tech because of a thigh bruise suffered in practice. He is expected to be back for next Wednesday's game at North Carolina.
"Jay Henderson is going to step up for this game," Pitino said of how he plans to handle King's absence. "He hasn't played much this season but hopefully he will."
King, a former McDonald's All-American is averaging 6.7 points and 2.3 rebounds per game this season. He scored a career-high 24 points in Louisville's loss to Virginia when fellow small forward Deng Adel was suspended, but scored just three total points and played only 12 total minutes in U of L's last two games.
