Louisville pummels UT-Martin 91-56

NCAA Basketball: Kentucky at Louisville Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

At some point in the first half after Louisville had already surged to a 20 point lead over Tenn-Martin, Coach Walz had five players rise as one off the bench to go check in. The crew on the floor had been swarming and smothering the Skyhawks on defense and then here comes five more just like them into the game with fresh legs and eager to prove themselves. That’s gotta hurt the soul a little.

Myisha Hines-Allen played 20 minutes and had 16 points and 8 rebounds. Sydney Zambrotta led the scorers off the bench with 13 including a 3 followed by a quick steal and a layup to end the 3rd quarter.

With all due respect to Dana Evans who led the team with 6 assists, the Louisville cheer squad probably had the assist of the day:

After the game Coach Walz was not pleased with the 2nd and 3rd quarter play. He said, “It’s not who you play it’s how you play. I’d rather not take a loss before we realize we’re not defending how we have to.” As an aside he also talked about how it’s Finals Week and that he was excited with the grades he’s seen so far saying that they’ve done a “nice job in the classroom.”

The Cards play again in two days on the 7th. The game vs. Vanderbilt is at the Yum! and can also be seen on ACC Network Extra. It is another Thirsty Thursday so plan accordingly.
