The Louisville football team will wrap up its 2017 season on Dec. 30 when they face Mississippi State in the TaxSlayer Bowl. The game will kick off at noon at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Fla. ESPN will have the coverage.

The Bulldogs, like U of L, enter the postseason with an 8-4 record. MSU, however, is dealing with the loss of head coach Dan Mullen, who took the head coaching job at Florida and took most of his top assistants with him. It’ll also be facing life without starting quarterback Nick Fitzgerald, whose dislocated his right ankle in the team’s regular season-ending loss to Ole Miss.

All things considered, this is probably the best case postseason scenario for an 8-4 Louisville team. Solid location, weekend date, no basketball conflict, and a respectable opponent.

I’ll take it.
