Jaire Alexander gets NFL Draft feedback, will make decision after bowl game

After that, who knows.

Louisville cornerback Jaire Alexander has heard back from the NFL Draft Advisory Board, which gave him a second round grade. This according to Alexander’s father, Landis, who spoke with the Courier Journal’s Jake Lourim.

Landis Alexander said the response from the board read, “It is the committee’s estimate that you have the potential to be drafted as high as the second round.”

Alexander said after reading the feedback that the family will “no doubt” wait to make a final decision until after Louisville plays in the TaxSlayer Bowl against Mississippi State.

“There’s no rush,” Landis Alexander said, adding that Jaire and his parents would make a pros and cons list for returning to Louisville versus declaring for the NFL draft. The deadline to decide is Jan. 15.

With some, like USA Today, listing Alexander as the best overall cornerback in the draft class, I’m a little surprised that his ceiling was slotted as the second round. That said, it’s nice to know that he’s definitely going to play in the bowl game and leave the rest of the decision process until after Dec. 30.
