Wednesday is the first day of college football’s new early signing period. Although Bobby Petrino was initially against the idea, he and his staff are expected to ink the bulk of their 2018 recruiting class on the first of the three-day early signing period.

Here are the major notes of the day so far:

—U of L held off Miami to land Jared Goldwire, the ninth-ranked defensive tackle in the class and a huge get for the Cardinals.

—Louisville also inked QB of the future Jordan Travis despite Florida continuing to make a large push for the dual threat signal caller. The Gators were reportedly urging Travis to push his signing back to February as recently as Tuesday night.

—Elivis Dumervil’s nephew, Demji Dumervil Jean, is coming to the Derby City to try and carve his own path.

—Four-star WR Manny Allen and three-star RB Javian Hawkins remain committed to Louisville but have both said they won’t be signing until February.

While updates will continue to come in throughout the day, here are the players who have already made it official that they will be playing their college ball at U of L:

More expected to come.
