On the men’s side Louisville was one of the few ACC teams to not come out on top in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The women fought off a pesky IU team to make sure they did not meet the same fate. Every time the Hoosiers looked like they might make a nice run in the second half the Cards shut it down with a big rebound, a key steal, or a perfect pass for a layup.
Myisha Hines-Allen dominated. She had yet another double-double (25 pts/12 reb). After the game Coach Walz said, “Nobody had an answer for Myisha....She refused to lose.”
Freshman Dana Evans came off the bench to provide solid play. She had 8 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists. Coach Walz says that she has a “bright future” but that she needs to learn to slow down.
Coach wasn’t impressed with the defense in the first half and said that some of the players admitted after the game that they didn’t think IU was that good. He said that he told them, “If you want to be an elite team you have to respect ever team and understand that as a #4 team we have a target on our back.”
Next up the Cards play at South Dakota State on Sunday, December 3rd, at 3:00. No TV coverage listed.
