For the second straight year, the Louisville men’s soccer team is headed to the Elite 8.
The fourth-seeded Cardinals got first half goals from Tim Kubel and Walker Andriot to notch a 2-0 win over Colgate in Sunday’s Sweet 16 match at Lynn Stadium.
U of L will now host fifth-seeded Akron on Friday at 7 p.m. with a trip to the College Cup on the line. The Cards have not been to the soccer version of the Final Four since 2010, when that same Akron program topped them 1-0 in the national championship game.

Two down, three to go.
