Despite this season being billed for the past month as a disappointment for Louisville and a step in the right direction for Kentucky, the Cardinals will be more than a touchdown favorite heading into Saturday afternoon’s Battle for the Governor’s Cup in Lexington.
U of L opened as a 9-point favorite for the game, a spread which has since been bet up to Louisville -10 at most books in Vegas.
Of course we can’t forget that the Cardinals were nearly a four-touchdown favorite before last year’s game against Kentucky. I say “of course we can’t forget’ because a member of Big Blue Nation has been bringing it up to us every day for the past 12 months.
This will be the fifth straight season Louisville has been favored to win the annual meeting with its in-state rival. Kentucky has been the favorite for the game just four times since 2000.
