The Annointed One

The people pined for a new leader. Their former commander’s transgressions had invoked the judgement of God and a new wind of change was coming to the land. A new King was to come and lead the people, but first he had to defeat a seemingly, unsurmountable task, and be anointed before his time.

The man I’m talking about was David. Not David Padgett, but King David, ruler of Israel. He was just a boy when he defeated all odds and slayed Goliath. When the subsequent king of Israel, Saul, defied God’s orders then the Prophet Nathan was sent to anoint a new king. God chose David out of all the sons of Jesse, not because of his stature, but because God saw his heart.

There are points in history when a man’s name almost seems to point to his destiny. David Padgett is not a boy, but he certainly is a young man in the realm of seasoned college coaches. He is challenged with the Goliath sized task of taking a nationally recognized power house and keeping it above waters amid allegations. The people of Louisville seek a new Coach, and David Padgett has been anointed.

I prophesize that David Padgett will one day be known in Louisville and the surrounding state as King David. If he avoids the errors that harmed our program and keeps an honest foundation then UofL basketball will rebound from this calamity.

He will be challenged by the behemoth of the ACC, NCAA sanctions and rival Kentucky, but after a couple of years he will triumph. The fans will rally around him and local, national and international players will flock to be coached by this newly chosen mentor. These players will be rough and raw, but have a love for the game over love of NBA money. He will hoist a banner that will stay, and he will be revered like royalty.

Now is the time to rally around a new coach and movement!

All hail UofL And, Long Live King David!
