Some more feel good news from the world of professional sports (the only place feel good news seems to come from these days), where Mangok Mathiang has made the opening day roster for the Charlotte Hornets.
Mathiang averaged 7.8 points and 6.0 rebounds in 2016-17, his last of approximately 35 seasons in a Cardinal uniform. He was at his best at the end of the season, scoring nine points or more in each of Louisville’s final five games, and recording a double-double twice over that span.
This news brings the number of former Cardinals who will start the 2017-18 season as members of an NBA roster to six:
Mangok Mathiang — Charlotte Hornets
Donovan Mitchell — Utah Jazz
Terry Rozier — Boston Celtics
Chinanu Onuaku — Houston Rockets
Montrezl Harrell — Los Angeles Clippers
Gorgui Dieng — Minnesota Timberwolves
Congrats to Mangok on proving a lot of people in this city (including myself) very wrong.
