Caleb Chandler, a 6’5, 310 pound offensive lineman out of Jefferson Georgia became Louisville’s third highly rated offensive line commitment for the 2017 recruiting class due to be signed in little over two weeks. Chandler, who is wrapping up an official visit to the Cardinals as of this posting, tweeted from him personal account confirmation of his commitment:
Chandler is rated a four-star prospect by 247Sports and Scout.com. Both also list him as one of the top players in Georgia for the class of 2017. Chandler listed offers from Miami, Georgia Tech, TCU, Purdue among many others. In the end he chose Louisville over finalists Oklahoma State and Florida. Louisville hiring Mike Summers helped convince Chandler to forego official visits to either of his other finalists and go ahead and commit to the Cardinals.
With major improvement need on the offensive line, Louisville has nicely restocked the position (and likely isn’t done). Four-star offensive guard Cole Bentley has enrolled early and will participate in spring practice. Louisville also has a commitment from one of the top junior college offensive linemen in this class in Ronald Rudd. The staff is also in pursuit of Toryque Bateman and Mekhi Becton, both of whom were also on official visits this weekend with Chandler.
Louisville is hoping Chandler won’t be the last commitment out of this weekend and he hinted via Twitter that they won’t be disappointed:
Chandler’s commitment is the 22nd for Louisville in this class which sits at #26 in 247Sports team recruiting class rankings.
