A monster weekend for Louisville athletics got started off on the right foot with the Louisville men's soccer team stunning top-ranked and previously undefeated Notre Dame 1-0 Friday night at Lynn Stadium.
Much to the delight of the 4,043 U of L fans in attendance, Mohamed Thiaw netted the match's lone goal with a perfect lob shot from 35 yards out in the 25th minute of the first half.

The victory moves U of L to 5-1-1 on the season and 2-0 in ACC play. Notre Dame falls to 6-1 overall, and 1-1 in the conference.
This marks the second time this season the Cardinals have taken down a highly-ranked foe. Earlier this month, Ken Lolla's team hit the road and notched a 2-0 victory over No. 14 Connecticut.
The Cardinals return to action Tuesday night with a non-conference tilt at Saint Louis.
