After spending two seasons as Louisville's director of basketball operations, former Cardinal standout David Padgett officially became one of Rick Pitino's three main assistants on July 1.

Here are the deets from the C-J:

Padgett, who was an assistant for three years at IUPUI before returning to his alma mater in 2014, will make $300,000 in salary with his new deal, which runs through June 30, 2017, according to a copy of his contract obtained by The Courier-Journal through a public records request.

Padgett's contract includes the usual elements of a typical deal between U of L and its coaches, such as a car allowance and complimentary tickets. He signed the agreement in April, and it went into effect this summer.

With Padgett's contract settled, U of L is in line to pay its three men's basketball assistants more than $1.2 million in salary during the next year. Kenny Johnson was promoted to associate head coach in March and received a bump in salary to $550,000 per year, plus a two-year extension. Fellow assistant Mike Balado, who is entering his fourth season working under head coach Rick Pitino, made $386,000 last year.

Congrats to David.
