Louisville unveils depth chart for season-opener against Charlotte

Here is the official Louisville football depth chart for week one of the 2016 season:

Thoughts:

--The major story following the release of the first depth chart in each of the past two seasons was that the amount of "ORs" listed gave us no real indication who would be starting. This year -- perhaps both because of the number of returnees and the week one opponent -- we know exactly who won the starting job at every position on both sides of the field. That's cool.

--It appears that not only is Stacy Thomas good to go for week one, but he's healthy enough to be getting the start. That's huge.

--Despite being a starter last season, Shaq Wiggins ran with the second team throughout the spring and the start of fall camp, and apparently that hasn't changed.

--Not sure where JaQuay Savage is.

--Lamar Atkins, who moved to linebacker last year and briefly left the team in the spring, is back as your starting FB, just ahead of Northwestern transfer Malin Jones, who came here originally as a RB.

--With him being listed as the second string RB and not the first team FB, it appears LJ Scott will be more focused on carrying the ball this season. He's a guy Petrino has really liked since he got here.

--Evan O'Hara and Mason King win the kicking and punting jobs, but my guess is that we see both of their backups get some work (or at least Creque) in week one.

--Reggie Bonnafon has earned a starting spot in his first season as a full-time WR, although I'd expect to see a healthy dose of Traveon Samuel on Thursday and throughout the season.

--Kenny Thomas is only listed as the backup at one spot, but my guess is that he'd be the first guy called upon if any tackle or guard went down (or struggled mightily).

--That quartet at HB/TE is lethal.
