Louisville is a 39.5-point favorite over Charlotte

Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

With Louisville's first game of the 2016 football season now just eight days away, we finally have an official point spread for the Cards tilt with Charlotte ... and it's likely to be the highest number we see for any U of L game this season.

Louisville is currently projected as a 39.5-point favorite for its game against the 49ers. That's where the spread opened, and it's where it remains at nearly every place of business that partakes in such endeavors.

This is the largest spread for a Louisville game since the Cardinals were favored by 40.5 over Eastern Kentucky in the second game of the 2013 season. No lines were given for U of L's game against Samford last season, or its contest against Murray State in 2014.

Charlotte went just 2-10 last season, and was an imperfect 0-8 in Conference USA play. They lost at Kentucky, 58-10 in the second-to-last weekend of the season. Their lone victories came in their first two games against Georgia State (23-20) and Presbyterian (34-10).
